Educator · School Administrator · Culinary Mentor
Ms. Natasha is a primary educator and part of Evergreen’s school administration. She also brings extensive hands-on cooking experience to the school’s food program, with a particular gift for turning wholesome ingredients into meals children genuinely enjoy.
Her approach goes beyond following a recipe. She understands how seasoning, texture, timing and preparation work together, and shares the practical techniques and small adjustments that help a dish taste its best.
For a placement student, that means learning alongside someone who understands both the food and the children eating it. You’ll have opportunities to ask questions, practise techniques and develop your own judgment as you prepare, taste and refine dishes together.
Ms. Natasha brings a particular strength to Evergreen’s food program: making nutritious ingredients appealing to children. Work alongside her in our school kitchen, where preparation, flavour and children’s responses are all part of the learning.
Build skills in ingredient preparation, seasoning, timing and portioning. Learn the kitchen’s routines for food safety, allergen awareness and keeping an organised work area.
Follow a meal from recipe to service. Explore ingredient quantities, food costs, stock organisation and ways to reduce waste within a real school-day schedule.
With Natasha’s guidance, help develop a nutritious dish, work out its cost and consider children’s feedback. Refine the recipe and document what you learn.
Responsibility develops with readiness. Tasks and learning projects are agreed with your supervisor and matched to your skills and program requirements. Food preparation and service remain under staff oversight.
A supported beginning Orientation to the kitchen, agreed responsibilities and clear guidance on food safety and daily routines.
Feedback you can use Learn alongside Natasha, ask questions and receive practical feedback on your preparation, organisation and cooking.
Room to develop Explore ideas, refine your technique and take on more complex tasks as your skills and judgment develop.
Reliability and follow-through Arrive prepared, communicate promptly and follow through on preparation, service and clean-up responsibilities.
Care and sound judgment Follow hygiene, allergen and equipment procedures. Ask before changing ingredients or working beyond your agreed role.
Initiative and a willingness to learn Notice what needs attention, respect the school community and apply feedback to the way you work.
Evergreen’s Certificate of Excellence recognises students whose work and conduct we can confidently recommend. It requires consistent excellence across every standard—not simply completing the required hours.
All seven standards must be met. Strength in one area does not offset an unmet standard elsewhere. This additional recognition is separate from recording your completed hours and your institution’s placement assessment.
Places are limited. We review each application for the learning experience we can offer, the supervision available and the student’s readiness to contribute.
Complete the shared application. Select Culinary & Nutrition and tell us about your studies and goals.
We review your interests, availability and program requirements alongside the opportunities we can offer.
Shortlisted applicants are invited to an interview to discuss interests, expectations and fit.
Following selection, confirm institutional approval, supervision and required checks before starting.
We welcome enquiries from culinary arts, culinary management, food and nutrition management, and related programs. This is a practical food-preparation and food-service opportunity, not a clinical nutrition placement. Suitability, supervision, dates, hours and placement terms are confirmed with your institution.
Complete the Evergreen Placement Program Application and select Culinary & Nutrition. Tell us about your studies, availability and what you hope to learn and contribute.
Apply for a PlacementSubmitting an application does not confirm or reserve a placement. If there is a suitable opportunity, we will contact you about the next steps.
